I Was Forced Into Marriage At 19 - Patience Ozokwor(VIDEO) Updated on 19-May-2017

Nollywood veteran actress, Evangelist Patience Ozokwor, has revealed how she was forced into marriage by her parents at the age of 19.

Ozokwor, fondly called ‘Mama G’, said she did not see any reason why her parents forced her into marriage at that age, adding that they just wanted her to get married.

She said as a child, born into a polygamous family, her mother was eager to see her get married before other children.

In an interview with RTV, the actress said, “It was not my decision [to get married at 19]. And if it’s not my decision it means I was forced into it. I was forced into it many years ago, and I did not see any reason my parents were forcing me as I was still young.

“And even at that age, I had so many suitors. You know when you come from a polygamous family and your mother is struggling for her own daughters to get married and this other one is also struggling for her own daughters to get married and when this one [suitor] came around and my mother said go and I could not make a choice. I was not allowed to make a choice. At the end, I had to obey my parents. I was not brought up to disobey them at all."

When asked if she enjoyed the marriage after she obliged her parents push, she added, “Sincerely speaking as a Christian I did not. The marriage was not easy at all for me as a young girl, it was not easy.”

She said no matter all she went through in the marriage, she had to stay on because her parents' eyes were on her and could not jump from one man to the other.

Patience further advised women to remain in their matrimonial homes no matter what, adding that the only reason a woman should separate from her husband is when life is involved.

John Dumelo Under Attack For Mocking Bread Hawker

Actor John Dumelo has used his social media platform to make fun of a university graduate for hawking after his university education.

We are not sure what John’s motive was but the “Baby Thief” Actor posted a picture of a gentleman hawking on the street with bread and he captioned it:

“Just saw a knust grad hawking in traffic.. what went wrong?”

But the known supporter of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) was roundly sounded for mocking the graduate, which some believe was perhaps just to score political points and make the ruling New Patriotic Party(NPP) unpopular.

Among those who have taken John on, is Hiplife Artist A-Plus who thinks John's post was absolutely unnecessary and asked John to remove the post and apologise to the gentleman.

He posted this on Facebook:

“I'm angry!!! Everyday I post my opinion. Today I'm posting my anger. John Dumelo remove this post from Instagram now!!! A bread seller is a human being. You can't just take pictures of people and post it in your page for attention. A bread seller has right which must be respected. A bread seller is better than an armed robber!!! A bread seller is better than a drug dealer!!! It's better for a person to hawk on the streets than to indulge in crime. I'm looking for this bread seller. John Dumelo must apologise to him. Or prepare for a legal battle!!!”

Several others have expressed an anger and accused John of posting the photo with some negative intentions.
